This seminar is presented in partnership with the IL Funeral Directors Association. The purpose is to continue our dialogue with funeral directors and gain a better understanding of each other’s worlds. The goal is to work together to achieve a smooth transition from hospice to funeral for families.

Kay Wheeler from Lincolnland Hospice will provide a synopsis of hospice care and its processes for patient and family care. She will define hospice staff disciplines and describe their roles as well as identify methods used to prepare families for death and associated planning.

Ray Aikens from A.A. Rayner & Sons will examine the importance of the funeral and grieving process in general, how the funeral director assists the family in preplanning the hospice patient’s funeral arrangement’s and the process of caring for the patient, once death occurs.

Rachael Telleen from JourneyCare will explain the POLST paradigm and why it was implemented in Illinois. She will identify 3 key areas that can document a person’s wishes.

Loretta Downs from Chrysalis will discuss Advance Healthcare Planning conversations, directing clients to resources and leading by example. Also, increasing your services and relationships.
